Over the past few months, we've been working with Volkswagen of America to bring you this - the "Golf R Drivers Forever" iPad® App. In the Spring of last year, we ventured to Austria for the Worthersee Tour. Afterwards, we visited Autostadt in Wolfsburg, Germany, and toured the famous VW factory there. But the adventure was two-fold. We met up with Jamie Vondruska from vwvortex.com and we were offered unprecedented access to many parts of the facility while filming content for upcoming awol.tv Segments. We were even given a new Golf R of our own to test-drive around Oschersleben racetrack. Then we also shot some footage of the new Golf24 at the Nurburgring. When Volkswagen contacted us about producing video content for them afterwards, they were amazed at what we already had captured in video. Using this footage combined with a shoot at Waterfest 17 in Englishtown, New Jersey, and then an interview with Chip Foose in California, we edited everything you see in the App. We are thrilled to be able to finally show you what we've been working on over the past few months, and hope you are as pleased with how it all came together as we are. Grown up's slip-n-slide. Thats what was going down at the Countyline Racetrack during this AWOL Segment. Rain and shine, the guys from iwanttodrift.com put on a show for our camera's and even let us get behind the wheel of one of their sideways machines. Despite any failed attempts at sliding, we're definitely in the market for a cheap RWD auto to toss around some corners ourselves. This Segment brought to you by Club Golf IDF and Eurowerks. We've been dying to have AWOL content playable on our mobile devices - and it's been a very popular request from friends and viewers alike. And now it is! We've upgraded our site to an HTML5 compatible player - so smartphones and tablets like the iPhone or iPad will have native playback of AWOL content. It's been a long time coming and we're super happy to make this available to everyone. Loading over 3G/mobile data can take a couple minutes and is subject to your carriers data rates, its much speedier over WiFi. We've only been able to test on the iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4 and iPad - for everyone else, give it a shot and post what device you have and if it worked for you. For Macs and PCs, we still recommend Flash so you can watch in HD. Let us know what you think!
